Over the Ocean on Skye
We just got back from a two day tour d'Scotland with Bryonie's folks and another couple from her church. Among the many highlights of the few days, the climax for me was without doubt the Isle of Skye, and Neist Point in particular. Imagine the most beautiful, stark and desolate landscape of sharp hills covered in grass, hardly a town to speak of for an hour's drive, with complete peace and quiet. Throw in a few sheep and about two bazillion "midges" (pronounced "midg-ees", little mosquitos basically), and you have the Isle of Skye. Throw out the midges and you've got my new favourite retirement dream. There is something so beautiful about peace and calm in such a dramatic setting. It makes me want to sit on a porch with a cup of tea and a good book.

5 Years!
Can it really be five years since I walked down the aisle in the dress of my dreams? I know everyone says it's hard to believe, but...it really is! Five years of the student life, paying rent month after month, moving soon after we've settled into a new place - I wouldn't give it up for all the world.
Josh isn't usually a flower kind of guy so when a sweet old man walked into my office on Thursday with his arms full of flowers and asked for me it took me a moment to process...and then another moment to choke back the tears...The bamboo stalks are the wood that represents our 5 years - what a clever guy.
And I have to say the promise of a trip to Italy in a couple months greatly eases the pain of spending one's anniversary at work.
