A light...
...at the end of the tunnel has just appeared on the horizon (sorry, too many metaphors).
A submission date, like death and taxes, will come to all Ph.D. candidates. However, in the throes of research and writing it sure doesn't feel like it. I have been coveting this elusive prize for some months now and it was beginning to feel like it would never grace us with its presence. But, at last, it has come calling and has brought with it good cheer.
Josh met with his supervisor today and, believe it or not, a date has been set. He will submit on the 30th of September. This means he will hand over a final draft of his thesis to be read by two of the academic persuasion, in whose hands our fate rests. They will decide if this scholarly tome is worthy to grant its writer the privilege of adding 3 small letters at the end of his name. Do you think I should send cookies? Or a million dollars?
Rejoice with us! A submission date has finally come to the Moon household.

Recent Happenings
Josh's folks came for a visit recently. It was such fun to be able to host them. Usually they host us (and other kids and grandkids and cousins and aunts and uncles) so it was a pleasure for me to cook dinners and serve cups of tea and show them around our stomping grounds. Over the weekend we were treated to a trip to Glencoe with a night in a fantastic B&B in the village by the valley. The last two trips to the Highlands we have driven straight through Glencoe, eager to get to Skye. So I was glad to stop in the valley area and get the feel of the place. I don't think there is anywhere more beautiful than the Highlands of Scotland. (Although that could be because I haven't seen Mt Ranier in a bazillion years.)
It was a good weekend in the middle of a very fun visit.
In other news, we just returned from commemorating my 28 years with a day in Edinburgh. Lunch at Le Monde and cocktails at Harvey Nichols with shopping in between. Josh says our afternoon was posh. I call it civilised.
Happy Weekend everyone!

6 Years!
Well, who can believe it but we are now entering the 7th year of our marriage. 6 years ago we had seminary, a move across the Atlantic, several jobs and all kinds of unexpected moments in front of us. It's so hard to believe that we are at last to the point of decision regarding the rest of our lives - that school is nearly over and that Scotland will only be our home a few more months.
Life is an adventure...at least that's what everyone always says. I suppose in a moment of reflection I would agree with that. I had no idea what these 6 years would bring me. It's been quite the journey with lots of ups and downs.
I'm grateful for so many things. Today, a day and six years after Josh and I vowed to remain faithful in plenty and in want, I'm grateful to know that life will just go on, bringing all sorts of twists and turns. But most of all I'm grateful that there is one before whom our future stretches - to whom everything is known and who orchestrates all for good and for glory.
